The Arts and Communication Magnet Academy (ACMA) is part of the Beaverton Public School system in Oregon, serving grades 6 - 12. The program includes instruction in Music History, Theory, and Jazz Performance, and currently has about 95 students, under the direction of Robert Crowell.

Mr. Crowell holds both his bachelor's and master's degrees in Jazz Performance from the Manhattan School of Music, one of the nations' most prestigious music conservatories. He is currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Teaching program at Western Oregon University. He has extensive performance experiences that have taken him all over the world. He has served as director (bands and combos) and saxophone instructor on the faculties of Mt. Hood Community College, Western Oregon University Jazz Workshop, Mel Brown Jazz Workshop, Manhattan School of Music Preparatory Division and Summer Jazz Workshop, Jazz on the Water and Lewis and Clark College Jazz Workshop. His extensive training and successful experience in performance, writing and arranging, as well as teaching, provide a rich opportunity for ACMA students to thrive musically and personally under his capable direction.
